Always up for a laugh
Mood:  don't ask

Always for a laugh over the years he has told me some great stories.
How he once swooped Eric Hancocks lapel flower for a Dandlion,
How he had a bunch of harden pub drinkers in Liverpool betting on the results of Come Dancing every week instead of watching the raceing (unknown to them he already new the results)
and I remember once being in Chester with him and another famous teacher of his era (lets just say PB), We were having a drink (of course) after a days compertition and in the hotel Ballroom was a small tea dance, a lady came up and asked if the gentalmen danced to which Eric replied us two no sorry four left feet (If she only new)

A coach, collegue and great friend for many years.
Eric worked in my studio's in Southport for the last 11 years of his life. He was as good at teaching beginners as he was at compertition work. Always willing to share is vast knowlege, he would spend time when I was teaching and he was waiting for his pupils to arrive (usually from Scotland in the later years) making notes which he would present to me after my couple had left with idears on how to improve them in the next lesson.

When studing with him for my Fellow in Ballroom and Latin American I became awere of his vast technical knowledge he could recite pages of Guy Howards Ballroom technique and compare them with Alex Moores Ballroom Dancing and even earier revised techniques such as Carl Bryant always adding their wrong you know and giving you great swathes of his own tecnique. Usually defacing my books with crossing outs and idears of his own. Sadly he never did see me become a Fellow in Latin American as I took the exam shortly after he died and became an examiner later that year.

As many know in his later years his leg were not what they used to be so I often drove him to compertitions (Sue not realy being intrested in dancing) and we would spend the drive back to Southport analising the couples. I wish I had his great memory as he would discus not only the finalist but numerous couples in the event where they had gone wrong and what figures they had used.
